On film, and when she's interviewed, it definitely does look more prominent than it does on most women. I would certainly hope so cuz I certainly wouldn't.
It pisses me off that there are quite a number ignorant folks out there thinking that a large Adam's Apple on a woman is reason enough to question her gender. Actually, she's not really that thin. She's certainly never been, nor will she ever be, catagorized as being as thin as the Heather Locklears and Calista Flockharts of the world.
She actually a pretty sturdy looking German girl. She doesn't have much in the chest area but she's medium framed, has very muscular legs, and is not what I'd consider frail by any means. Girls can and do have Adam's Apples. Other actresses that come to mind are Meg Ryan and Jenna Elfman. Two more who have prominent lumps in there throats. It's no big deal. It's merely the size of the cartilage around the larynx that dictates the how visible the lump, or "apple", is.
In women, it has nothing to do with "maleness" or hormonal imbalance. The vast majority of women have no discernable prominence but there are those who are at the other end of the spectrum. When I was in 7th grade I knew this really pretty girl who had a very large and visible Adam's Apple. She was one of about three girls in the entire school that had visible "apples".
It didn't bother her, except when she tried to wear a tight choker necklace! When the body is deprived, the brain is deprived. For all the supposed strides that created the strong woman who has it all, the skinny culture has created fractured females who are exhausted, neurotic and stupid. Far from the adulterers, victims, lesbians and psychotics that constitute juicy female roles today, the characters were dignified, intelligent and larger than life. Even the airheads always outsmarted. Taking on more than just physical male qualities, female characters have become the romance solicitors in practically every romantic comedy being released.
The girl pursues the guy, often asking him outright for a date, sometimes proposing marriage, other times literally running after him. While the viewing public may yearn for a return to the soft sultriness and feminine demureness of the first half of the filmmaking century, what we may be witnessing is a return to a much earlier time: that of Shakespeare, when male and female roles both were played by men.
These new, longer cords require a larger container, so to speak, so the larynx also grows to accommodate them. The larger larynx is simply easier to see. This is also the reason that women do not appear to have an Adam's apple, although, of course, they do have one.
Generally, women have higher voices than men: this means they have shorter vocal cords and a smaller larynx. Their larynx is just not as noticeable. Also, women generally tend to have a greater percentage of body fat than men do. This fat hides the larynx and gives the neck a smoother appearance.
Hold on! So, all women have adam's apples? It's just that on some women it is a little larger? Adam's apples are even more obvious on thin women? But aren't women supposed to be thin? So, we should be thin, but not so thin that our adam apple shows?
This is just all so confusing. And what if I end up with cankles? Ann Coulter is a freak NOT because she has a visible adam's apple, or because she's skinny, or because she has a deep voice, she is a freak because she is a crazy conservative republican who says really stupid stuff. So much stupid stuff that we really don't have to make fun of her appearance in order to make fun of her.
In fact, all this talk about Manly Coulter distracts from the real problem - there are people who agree with her and they are all trying to destroy this country. And look around folks, I think they are winning. Paris Hilton is a Man!

Adam's apples are basically thyroid cartilage, which everyone has. Testosterone causes it to enlarge. If a woman has a noticeable Adam's apple, it doesn't mean she has more testosterone than the average woman, according to Goldberg. One reason is that men tend to drink and smoke more, and that leads to more snoring," Goldberg said. Also, when men gain weight, they tend to gain it around the neck, and that weight around the neck also increases snoring. Studies show the cheating difference is now slight.
Current research data says 80 percent of women remain faithful to their husbands, while 65 percent to 85 percent of men are faithful. Although men often claim that they're better at driving, the jury is still out on whether men are better at this mechanical skill, but when it comes to safe driving, women are ahead.
Men are much more likely to get into accidents, killing themselves and others.
