Two types of bacteria, Pseudomonas and Proteus typically cause the corn chips smell when mixed with the saliva of grooming and normal sweat from the paw pads. Dry thoroughly, paying special attention to the areas in between the toes. However, if the smell becomes overwhelming or you notice other signs of trouble, your pet should be seen by a veterinarian.
