What is the difference between starcaster and stratocaster

It's closest relative is the Squier line of Fenders. I had a Squier Telecaster in and it was fine. It felt slightly smaller and lighter, but that was perfect, as I I don't have the world's largest hands. My Starcaster? Not sure what became of it? But having had a Fender Stratocaster and a Fender Telecaster, in the years since, I'd be more than ok with my Squier and my Starcaster. The Squier fit me better and was more comfortable in my hands.

The Starcaster felt every bit as good as the real Strat I had and I always enjoyed feeling like I was getting one over on all the guitar elitists who had to have their Stratocasters to make them feel like a real guitar player. All this talk makes me wanna go online and find me a good condition Starcaster, and a good condition Gibson Maestro and order them today.

Lol It's all in the head. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Starcaster is like Squier, a cheap guitar marketed by Fender. Kind of like Gibson does with their Maestro line of guitars. Any guitarist worth his salt knows that the Starcaster is a cheap guitar. It's comparable to all the other millions of cheap guitars built in China. From what I've heard Harley Benton guitars are the best of the cheap Asian made guitars on the market.

The usual explanation is the US built Fenders are the high quality instruments. But it isn't the location per se that makes the difference, it's the specifications to which they are built. It is a Fender because it has fender on the headstock. It even has Strat guitar on the headstock. Anyone who says it is not a strat is in snob denial. Blame Fender. Sign up to join this community. Fender has made Squiers out of various types of wood — Alder, Basswood, Pine and who knows what! And yes, he was selling a solid body guitar at the time.

They want to believe that the guitar is art just as what they play is art. Pickups are not microphones. They are transducers. You know what the real test is? I pay the same taking condition into account for Squiers as for Starcasters.

I work on these things everyday and I play them every night. Check out our new website: GuitarFlippers. Facebook Twitter RSS. Nuts Nuts are plastic and tend to be cut higher than 20 to 30 thousandths over the first fret when fretted at the last on both models. Frets Fret ends can be a bit sharp on all models. Are fender Starcasters rare? Does Fender still make Starcasters? Does Fender make Starcaster? What is the best year for ES?

Why is the Gibson ES so expensive? Next Article Which artist was best known for connections with nobles and depictions of human form in action? Messages: 5. Sorry to ressurect this old thread, but I have both a Starcaster, and a VM Squier Made in India and thought this was an interesting thread.

Rosewood fretboard, jumbo head stock. Very light comapared to the VM. The neck is slightly wider, c shaped and non glossy which I like Body made of Bass Wood most likely. My Starcaster plays very well. At fisrt the frets were super sharp, but I got them smoothed down and now it plays as well or better than my VM. The Starcaster stays in tune very well which is my favorite thing about it, along with the neck l-I play every day for an hour or two and it is usually still in tune when I pick it up the next day.

Wonderful smooth neck with low action. It sounds pretty good both clean and distorted. Not as good as my VM however. I am pretty happy with the tone-although kind of hard to tell though my cheap practice amp. All and all satisfied and look forward to playing it. I work out of town and keep it in my apt. It got me playing again which is good thing! Back in the day a sub hiundred dollar guitar was truy unplayable-this Starcaster plays pretty darn good! Maybe I got lucky! Long live cheap playable guitars!
